MEDIANTE
Microarray and High Throughput Sequencing data manager
Nice Platform Publication center

MEDIANTE is an academic initiative that provides user-friendly tools allowing the analysis of global expression data, as collected by DNA microarray experiments. MEDIANTE is the bioinformatics platform of the Resogen Program (RNG/MRC), which distributes to the French academic community Human and Mouse pangenomic DNA microarrays at a cost-effective price (Download RNG/MRC ordering procedure).

As MEDIANTE was supported by grants from the French National Genopole network, all information about design and annotation of the probes and transcripts are public and free. As such, Mediante provides a public access to a uniform collection of 300.746 human and 212.218 mouse distinct oligonucleotides. MEDIANTE also provides visualization tools allowing an easy comparison of the bioinformatics properties of several microarray platforms (RNG/MRC, Affymetrix, Agilent, Illumina at the moment).

The aims of the project are:
- to distribute the information about our collections,
- to provide tools for easy visualisation of hybridizations and rapid quality control of the experiments,
- to fasten the validation of new specific or whole genome microarrays,
- to link experimental data with other public initiatives, such as Bioconductor, or GEO.

DNA microarrays are curently produced by three different plateforms : Nice/Sophia Antipolis, Evry and Strasbourg. Identical arrays are collaboratively developed by MRC laboratories in UK (TC Freeman, HGMP, Hinxton).
